REUNION ISLAND

Construction of a hydraulic tunnel 18 km long with an inner diameter of 3.2 metres. A dedicated factory was set up to make the precast concrete segments for the inner lining. A double-shield TBM, 3.8 metres in diameter and 10 metres long, was used to excavate a tunnel 4,200 metres long with a cross section of 12 m². Conventional drilling and blasting was also used over a total length of 4,300 metres with a cross section 20 m².
Maximum overburden: 1,000 metres.
