Extension of Line 14 of the Paris Metro


Civil engineering work to extend line 14 on the section between Saint-Lazare and Porte de Clichy. This contract, marking the effective start of work on Grand Paris, of which metro line 14 is the backbone, covered the construction of an initial 3.6 km section with a 7.75-metre inside diameter tunnel boring machine as well as the first two stations on the line 14 extension, measuring 120 metres long, 20 metres wide and 20 to 30 meters deep.

Highlight: Using two pressure tunnel boring machines to excavate earth, comprised primarily of marl and gravel. Dismantling a tunnel boring machine underground in a room hollowed out against the terminus of the existing work.
Creating two stations between moulded partition walls and several connecting corridors leading to the other works, in service or not. Implementing the freezing technique to cross unstable soil areass.
