Talant road tunnel

CÔTE D'OR, FRANCE

The Talant tunnel is located in Dijon and is part of the extension of the Greater Dijon northern link road. The structure consists of a twin-tube urban road tunnel approximately 612 metres long for the northern tube and 586 metres long for the southern tube, with each containing 2 lanes of traffic. The excavated area is between 91 and 95 m² depending on the support type. The two tunnels were bored using drilling and blasting, and are connected by three cross passages.

Highlight: At the start of the project, blasting was forbidden at night, with three time slots available for blasting: 7:30 am to 8:30 am, 12 midday to 2 pm, and 5 pm to 8 pm. These times slots were later relaxed.
Excavation took place on a downwards slope of 6%.
